Rick Ness Races for Big Money in Iceman 500 UTV Race
In his own words, Rick breaks down his plan to save his mining season and reunite his crew for a new mission: soup up an old UTV and compete in a 500-mile race across a frozen lake for a prize of $10,000.
This is a shot of Jim Zuccone getting ready to take me for a ride in the car they offered to me for the race, just giving me a glimpse at what it can do.
A shot of the Evolution Powersports built car the day before the race in Balsam Lake, WI. The Rally! Logos on the sides were put on later that night.
This is a picture of me taking Jim Zuccone from Evolution Powersports for a ride in My Supercharged Yamaha YXZE On Balsam Lake. I’m confident I scared him at least a little bit.
Another picture of the EVO Maverick out on the ice before the Iceman 500
(L to R) Kruse, Ryan and Zee talking at some point during the race. Probably discussing what the chances were that I was going to crash in a big way.
One of a handful of pit stops throughout the race for refueling. Jim Zuccone From Evolution Powersports is dumping the fuel in, Ryan is holding a fire extinguisher in case it ignites, and Kruse is probably telling me to go faster.
The Evolution Powersports Team along with Team Rally! Shortly after the race. Evolution Powersports designed and set up the car and the work they do is incredible. I’m so thankful I had the opportunity to race one of their cars.

A picture of Team Rally! Shortly after the race. We were all excited but I was also exhausted.
A picture of Team Rally! In Zee’s living room with his wife Chelsey and their new daughter Emersyn. I napped on his couch for an hour with that big Bulldog in the picture and then stuffed myself with steak and shrimp courtesy of Chef Boy R Zee.
