Big and Small

The world's biggest dog is a Great Dane, and the world's smallest dog is a Chihuahua.

All different breeds of dogs can be guide dogs, though Labs, Retrievers, and German Shepherds are the most popular.

Chihuahuas are decendents of an ancient companion breed in Mexico, the Techichi.

Labrador litters can be born with chocolate, yellow, and black labs!

Depending on the dog, a mom could carry a litter of up to 10 puppies.

3.3 million dogs enter the shelter system each year.

Dogs are pack animals and thrive on companionship, from both other dogs and humans.

Golden Retrievers were originally bred in Scotland as hunting dogs.

Most dogs can run up to 20 MPH, but the fastest dog is a Greyhound who can reach speeds of up to 45 MPH.

Boxers were originally bred in Germany.
