Healthy Air for All
Lower air pollution means less damage to the health of ecosystems and the environment. The health benefits of breathing clean air are invaluable. Here are five tips on how you can do your part to contribute to clean air for all.
1. Utilize alternative modes of transportation
Driving less doesn't mean you have to stay at home! Try combining different modes of transport like carpooling, walking, riding a bike, and public transit.
2. Drive smart
When you drive, driving smart helps keep pollution at a minimum:
- Accelerate gradually.
- Keep your car tuned and get regular smog checks.
- Replace your car's filter when necessary.
- Combine errands in one trip.
3. Save Energy
Saving energy helps reduce air pollution (even power plants burn fossil fuels to generate electricity).
- Turn off the lights when you leave a room.
- Turn off AC/heating when you leave the house.
4. Implement Green Landscaping Practices
Try using a broom instead of a leafblower. And if you use a landscaping service, ask them about their ecofriendly practices.
5. Save the fireplace for a special occasion.
Install and use a gas log if you can.
