Chase Elliott Wins Consecutive GoBowling At The Glen Victory In NASCAR Cup Series

By: Sarah Agnone

Elliott maintained his track position and raced mistake-free, forcing Martin Truex, Jr. into second place yet again.

On a sunny day in Watkins Glen, New York, young driver Chase Elliott put consecutive GoBowling at The Glen victories under his tires. The GoBowling race is a 90-lap, 220.86-mile course featuring 37 drivers in this year’s NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series.

In 2018, Elliott won against the 2017 champion Martin Truex, Jr. Despite impressive tactics to overtake Elliott, Truex was stuck in a close second yet again this year due to Elliott’s impeccable driving.

The course left little room for error. Luckily for Elliott, he maintained his track position and raced mistake-free until he crossed the finish line. Both cars were wicked fast with Elliott driving a No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet and Truex in a BassPro Camry. Just like last year, Elliott ran out of gas in a celebratory burnout after the race.

Top Finishers for 2019 GoBowling at The Glen:

  1. Chase Elliott (#9)
  2. Martin Truex, Jr. (#19)
  3. Denny Hamlin (#11)
  4. Erik Jones (#20)
  5. Ryan Blaney (#12)
  6. Matt DiBendetto (#95)
  7. Kevin Harvick (#4)
  8. Kyle Larson (#42)
  9. Brad Keselowski (#2)
  10. Kurt Busch (#1)

After his win, Elliott became the first Chevrolet driver to score multiple needed victories for the manufacturer this season.

Denny Hamlin and Erik Jones came in with consistent times at third and fourth place. Jones solidified his spot in the playoffs with a fourth top-five finish.

William Byron and Bubba Wallace came in 21st and 28th, respectively, after some dust ups on the track.

Drivers Ryan Newman and Jimmie Johnson are tied for 16th place and will head off in Michigan for the last playoff position.
