In a nail biting overtime, Austin Hill (#16) edged out runner up Sheldon Creed (#2) and secured Matt Crafton’s playoff spot this past weekend in the regular season finale for the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series at Michigan International Speedway. Creed chased Hill around the two-mile, five-lap overtime, but came in a marginal .125 seconds behind.
Because this is Hill’s second victory of the season, two-time champion Crafton clinched another shot at a third title in the playoffs.
Hill was overjoyed at his victory after recovering from a last place finish at Eldora Speedway. Hill’s No. 16 Toyota was brand new and after some fine tuning, ran nearly perfect until the finish line.
