Zurich, Switzerland
The city of Zurich is the largest in Switzerland. A global center for banking and finance, Zurich was founded in 15 BC by the Romans, who called it Turicum. Now a hub for railway, roads, and air traffic, Zurich's airport and main train station are the largest in the country.

Niederdorf/ Old Town

Grossmunster Cathedral, Fraumunster, and St. Peter’s Church
Three major churches dot the Swiss skyline - Grossmunster Cathedral, Fraumunster, and St. Peter's Church. The twin towers of Grossmunster are some of the most recognized landmarks in Zurich!
Lake Zurich
The city of Zurich rests of the edge of Lake Zurich, which is fed by glaciers of the Glarus Alps, and connects to the Limmat. The lake's water quality is extremely high making it another popular swimming destination. Lake Zurich's water is purified into Zurich's water system, meaning it's even drinkable!
No matter where you are in Switzerland, you're never more than 10 miles away from a lake. This tiny country is home to over 1,500 lakes.
Bahnhofstrasse
Bahnhofstrasse is the main downtown street of Zurich, linking Switzerland's largest train station to the rest of the city. It is one of the most expensive and exclusive shopping areas in the world with a mix of international desigers, luxury brands, and Swiss products. During Christmas season the street is adorned with twinkly lights and the Swarkovski Christmas Tree.
The Uetliberg
The Uetliberg is a mountain in the Swiss plateau, part of the Albis chain. It is 2,850 ft above sea level with multiple hiking and mountain biking routes. The top of the mountain is known for its panoramic views of the city, Lake Zurich, and, on a clear day, the Swiss Alps.
Zurich Opera House
Zurich's opera house is located in Sechseläutenplatz, a large town square on the edge of Lake Zurich. The opera house has been home to the Zurich opera since 1891, and also houses the Barnhard-Theater Zurich, Zurich ballet, and Zurich philharmonic. After Richard Wagner's Aktientheater was burnt down, Viennese architects Fellner & Helmer built this neo-classical opera house- the first opera house in Europe to have electrical lighting. You can take a virtual tour of the Zurich Opera House here.
