Tokyo, Japan
Tokyo is the capital and most populous city in Japan. Located on the central Pacific Coast of the island of Honshu, Tokyo is both the political and economic center of the country. Tokyo originated as a fishing village, named Edo, and became a political hub in 1603. Served by an extensive number of rail and subways, Tokyo is known for its infrastructure. The city frequently hosts international forums, sporting events, and most recently, the 2020 Olympic games.
Harajuku
Harajuku is where pop culture meets tradition. Known for its colorful street art and the extreme fashion of local teenagers, the streets of Harajuku are lined with trendy clothing stores and cosplay shops. The area has a bustling nightlife scene with many popular bars.
Tokyo Skytree
Tokyo Skytree is a broadcasting tower located in Sumida, Tokyo. It's the tallest structure in Japan, and second tallest in the world, after the Burj Khalifa. While Tokyo Skytree is a working broadcasting tower, it also features an observation deck and gallery open to visitors.
Sensō-ji Temple
Sensō-ji is an ancient Buddhist temple. Located in Asakusa, Tokyo, the temple is the city's oldest and one of its most significant. The temple is dedicated to Kannon Bosatsu, the Bodhisattva of compassion. As the most highly visited spiritual site in the world, Sensō-ji has more than 30 million visitors every year.
Akihabara
Akihabara is a shopping hub for electronics and department stores. At the Tokyo Anime Center, you can find vendors for manga, video games, and trading cards. Located in central Tokyo, the main street is closed to cars on Sundays to accommodate lots of foot traffic.
Tokyo Tower
Tokyo Tower is a communications and observation tower in Minato, Tokyo. The second tallest building in Japan, its structure is inspired by the Eiffel Tower. Tokyo Tower is white and international orange. From its main deck, tourists can get a bird's eye view of all of Tokyo.
Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden
Shinjuku Gyoen is a spacious park and garden in Shinjuku, Tokyo. The park's sprawling lawns, walking paths, and tranquil scenery provide a relaxing escape from the busy city around it. In Spring, the national garden is know as one of the best places to see Japan's famous cherry blossoms.
