Mumbai, India
Mumbai is one of the largest cities in India. Formerly Bombay, Mumbai is located on the western coast of India, surrounded by the Arabian Sea. There are actually seven with the largest being Salsette Island, the home to Mumbai City.
Gateway of India
The Gateway of India was built to commemorate the arrival of the first British monarchs to then Bombay. It still stands today and is a major tourist attracting and gathering place.
Kanheri Caves
These caves and rock monuments are a part of Sanjay Gandhi National Park. There are 109 caves that were originally traditional Buddhist dwellings and spaces for worship.
Haji Ali Dargah
Constructed in the 15th Century, this mosque is located a few hundred meters off the shore in Worli Bay.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya
Also know as the Prince of Wales Museum, this museum documents Indian history throughoutout the ages.
Bandra–Worli Sea Link
This bridge is the first cable suspension bridge in India and it connects, you guessed it, Bandra and Worli. it is stunning bit of modern architecture in Mumbai, as it was completed in 2010.
Global Vipassana Pagoda
Built entirely by donation, this is the largest meditation hall for Vipassana meditators. It is a new structure, built in the Burmese style.
Elephanta Island
Accessible by ferry about 6 miles from Mumbai city, this city got its name from a statue of an elephant that was discovered by Portuguese explorers.
