Cairo, Egypt
Cairo is the 6th largest city in the world, making it the largest city in Africa. Settled on the Nile River, just over 100 miles south of the Mediterranean Sea, Cairo is an ancient city, founded in 969 AD. Full of history from the Pyramids in Giza to the roman ruins of Old Cairo, this city is beautiful.
Giza Plateau
Probably the most notable vista in Cairo is the Giza Plateau. Known mostly for some of the most notable ancient monuments in the world, including the Great Sphinx, and the Great Pyramid of Giza.
The Eqyptian Museum
This museum is home to the world's largest collection of Pharaonic antiquities. Founded by The Egyptian government 1835 in another location, but then moved it to its current spot in 1855.
The Citadel and Muhammad Ali Mosque
The Citadel is a medieval Islamic-era fortification that was constructed beginning in 1176 AD. Home to the Muhammad Ali Mosque, which was added to the site in the 1800s, the citadel was where the city's rulers dwelled from the 13th to the 19th centuries.

Khan El-Khalili Bazaar
Old Cairo
Old Cairo is where the Roman empire settled along the Nile. Also called Coptic Cairo because of its ties to Christianity, this section of the city is where the existing Christian churches remain today.
Al-Azhar Park
This park was opened in 2005 and is full of beautiful vegetation in the middle of a desert. The view of the Citadel with Muhammad Ali Mosque is unmatched.
