Kansas City Chiefs Derrick Nnadi Tackled Shelter Adoption After His Super Bowl LIV Win
Kansas City Chiefs Derrick Nnadi had two things on his to do list this weekend - win Super Bowl LIV and help the good people of Kansas City adopt animals from the KC Pet Project.
The KC Pet Project let Kansas City and the world know on Monday morning that the Chiefs’ defensive lineman would sponsor the adoption fees for over 100 dogs. This isn’t the first time that this generous NFL player helped out shelter pups. The Chiefs won 15 times this season, and the animals won too; because the Derrick Nnadi Foundation partnered with the KC Pet Project to cover one adoption fee per win. So, when the Chiefs made the Super Bowl, Nnadi decided he wanted to keep paying it forward- if the Chiefs won the most important game of the season, he would try to help clear the shelter.
In an interview on Monday, Nnadi talked about his love for dogs and how it was always his dream to adopt a dog. When he finally adopted his four legged-friend, Rocky, Derrick saw how timid he was and it made him think about all the other dogs still living that shelter life, “…whether they're owned or in a shelter, [the dogs] are feeling scared and alone."
Congrats to the Chiefs on their big win, but an even bigger congrats to the dogs that have found their forever homes with a little kindness from Derrick Nnadi
